Summit Looks at Omaha Public Transit System

Published by admin on Tue, 05/14/2019 - 12:00am

For many Omaha residents, transportation means pulling a car out of a driveway and spending about 15 minutes swerving between potholes to reach a destination – maybe 30 minutes when facing construction or congestion.

The metropolitan area’s transit system is more complex than that, though. Walking, biking, public buses, ride sharing apps and, as of this week, electric scooters play a role in moving people around the city, and that motion is critical to the area’s economic vitality.

Avengers Accentuates Age Gap

Published by admin on Thu, 05/09/2019 - 12:00am

A week ago Friday, we were in our favorite restaurant and I said to the server, “I’ve never seen the parking lot so crowded!”

She responded, “Of course not. This is the opening weekend of The Avengers, (at the movies next door),” and I stupidly replied, “Oh I remember them from the sixties with Diana Rigg and Patrick McNee,” and she burst out laughing as if I were in a time warp.

David L. Herzog: ‘He Was Never Too Busy to Teach’

Published by admin on Wed, 05/08/2019 - 12:00am

Omaha attorney David L. Herzog was a kind man who took the time to maintain relationships by writing notes, sharing articles and leaving a lasting impression on many in the local community.

As an attorney, Herzog was intense and didn’t like leaving anything to chance. He had an inquisitive mind and sought to understand the law, even when that meant pouring over the small nuisance of shades of meaning.

After a long battle with lung disease, Herzog died April 16 at age 81. He was practicing law up until the day of his death.
