A fresh morning drizzle on Saturday either lended to or came from the heavy fog, priced by downtown Omaha’s few skyscrapers. The view from Cummings Street was thankfully unobstructed as I drove to the next restaurant on my list. Dear reader, writing this article was like going ten rounds with the boxing world heavyweight champion. Imagine this: There I was, thinking I had discovered the hardest thing to do when asked by a child to skip a rock across a loose pile of hay, when my editor Maggie interrupted me solemnly. “Austin, I know it's tough," she began while I froze up. Tension piled up inside me as she continued, “I need you to go try out the best wings in Omaha, at Tracks."

When my Editor came to me and asked if I wanted to get paid to head to 36th and V Street to write about street tacos, I did my very best to hide my enthusiasm and remain as professional as possible.

As most stories that begin with a guy sitting alone at a bar, it’s usually about a woman; this time at least… it was about interviewing one. While waiting, I took out my little black book and started scribbling down descriptions of that which was around me.

Their ceramics can be found in tens of thousands of homes in Omaha and the country. While they might not ever fetch the price of a Picasso, the pieces are regarded as priceless works of art, not for their monetary value, but for their sentiment.

Ask Dan Hoppen about his favorite restaurant, and he may tell you about his most-recent visit to the newest gyro, Mexican, Italian or pizza joint. But, ask him for a must go-to eatery and he’ll rattle off a handful of impressive restaurants.

Dr. Jennifer Craft Morgan of the Georgia State University Gerontology Institute gave a talk at UNO on Direct Care Worker Retention in the health care field with a trauma-informed approach. Dr. Morgan covered multiple different topics that will help improve practices and increase support for those working in the direct care industry.

For the end of November, Dr. Goss of Creighton discusses his thoughts on the future of education. As a professor of higher education, Goss discusses the fact that ACT averages have been on the decline for the last six years and are at the lowest they have been in 30 years. SAT scores have also seen a drop since 2016, with the current average at 1028.
