The U.S. economy is in the early stages of an once-in-a-lifetime shift from an economy powered by fossil fuels. To prevent catastrophic climate change we have to switch quickly to electric vehicles and appliances fueled by renewable energy.
But it shouldn’t come at the expense of good-paying jobs — and it doesn’t have to.

What if I told you there was something that would help ease the problem of our overcrowded prisons? What if I said this same solution would help alleviate the homeless situation? Prevent suicides? Cut back on the number of domestic violence calls? Drunk driving deaths? And improve employee attendance records?

Goats are particularly good at one thing: Eating. Unlike a horse or cow that leaves noxious weeds behind, goats eat the whole menu of pesky weeds, bushes and small trees. That means goats can be one of the answers to the growing problem of tinder-dry, highly flammable forests.

I went to the kickoff announcement of the Dan Osborn for Senate campaign. The event was well attended for something like that, but it wasn’t overflowing. Then again, unless you have a powerful political party with a lot of money behind you, events like these are rarely overflowing.
I’ve been to a lot of these things over the years, but this one was a little different.
You see Dan Osborn is an independent running to replace incumbent Senator Deb Fisher. As Aaron Sanderford with the Nebraska Examiner put it, he is neither helped nor hindered by a political party.

The self-declared republic of Nagorno-Karabakh will cease to exist on New Year’s Day 2024, its ethnic Armenian officials announced on Thursday. The former autonomous region broke away from Azerbaijan after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but was not recognised even by Armenia, which backed it. All its institutions will now be dissolved.
