What’s Good For The Goose Isn’t Always Good For The Gander

Published by admin on Wed, 02/25/2026 - 12:00am

Former Nebraska Democratic Governor and Senator Bob Kerrey’s name is in the Epstein Files, and the Nebraska Republican Party is trying to use that to their political advantage. They are demanding that all Democrat candidates plus independent candidate for senate Dan Osborn return any political donations Kerrey may have given them.

Killer Serial - Part 1

Published by admin on Tue, 02/24/2026 - 12:00am

---- Part 1 ----

A murky visage hangs over me, rippling in and out of focus. I’ve only been under water for 15 seconds – what’s her problem? Teresa reaches down and grabs a handful of my tunic, yanking me straight up and out of the trough.

“People are staring,” she growls in my ear, before dropping me right back into the water.

I roll begrudgingly out and flop to the ground.

“I’m sure they are now,” I grunt as I push myself up to my feet.

She pushes my scabbard and gloves into my gut while leaning into my ear.

Money is up, Honor is for the Poor.

Published by admin on Mon, 02/23/2026 - 12:00am

“We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.” This was a line from the July 2025 Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations memo on the initial Epstien files, a memo which had been released jointly by organizations controlled by FBI Director Kash Patel and DOJ AG Pam Bondi.

Is Stephan Colbert’s Feud With CBS A Battle For Free Speech Or A Brilliant Gorilla Marketing Victory?

Published by admin on Fri, 02/20/2026 - 12:00am

Is Stephan Colbert’s feud with CBS about his interview with James Talarico a real fight for First Amendment rights or a piece of brilliant gorilla marketing on Colbert and Talarico’s part?

Let me start with the gorilla marketing argument first.

Would anybody care about the James Talarico interview if he was just another guest on Colbert?  Would most people outside of the Lone Star State even have a clue who James Talarico was if he was just a regular guest on Colbert?

Let’s Do More To Let The Rest Of The World Know That We’re All Heart.

Published by admin on Thu, 02/19/2026 - 12:00am

This nice weather in February has me thinking of summer and vacation.

Nebraska has historically done a bad job in bringing tourists to our state.  We have that Midwest mentality that we don’t like bragging on ourselves.

But when we do brag, we do it poorly.  Remember our last pitch to bring visitors to the Good Life State?

Nebraska… Honestly, it’s not for everyone.

Schools Need to Adopt Clear Rules for AI Use. Parents Can Help Make That Happen

Published by jason@omahadail... on Wed, 02/18/2026 - 12:00am

It has been over three years since ChatGPT launched, bringing artificial intelligence to the masses for the first time. Today, AI is reshaping schools, workplaces and entire industries. Yet only 40 school districts in 17 states  — approximately 0.30%  — have district-level AI guidance.

Teaching Kids To Be Better Citizens Shouldn’t Be This Complicated

Published by jason@omahadail... on Tue, 02/17/2026 - 12:00am

Life is complicated.  People are complicated. As Charlie Kirk used to say, “Prove me wrong.”

Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA are a good example of just how complicated life can be.

I don’t think Charlie Kirk was a saint.  I don’t think he was the devil either.  Like most people Charlie Kirk was not just one thing.

When he spoke on college campuses he offered some good thoughts about his faith, the strengths of the nuclear family, and other more traditional conservative values.

Opinion: News Travels Fast; We Have Questions

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 02/16/2026 - 8:57am

Regular readers of this space know that three or four times a year we hold a hypothetical news conference in which we pose questions for Nebraska’s Congressional delegation. While the calendar pointed toward March for the next faux event, the world is moving apace, so we’re checking in with our elected quintet.

In no particular order of importance… let’s query:

An Engineer’s Approach: Diversity

Published by jason@omahadail... on Fri, 02/13/2026 - 12:00am

Being such a right-brained engineer has offered me an interesting perspective on most social interactions. Professionally, I might as well be a performing arts major compared to my firmly analytical teammates. And outside work, I end up being the go-to math nerd when folks want to put real numbers to something. I’m a bit of a chameleon. Add on my intense interest in dissecting communication breakdowns and I have ended up with a big question: can I help translate between those that navigate life with their minds and those that lean on their hearts?
