Eleven employees and one patient have tested positive for the coronavirus at the state-run psychiatric hospital in Lincoln.
Officials with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said they expect to confirm more cases as testing continues with patients and staff at the Lincoln Regional Center.

Lincoln – Nebraska could see another flare-up of COVID-19 cases because of the demonstrations over the death of George Floyd, but state officials concluded that allowing protesters to peacefully vent was more important than concerns about the pandemic, Gov. Pete Ricketts said last Monday.

Nebraska received the equivalent of a month of gross domestic product in federal coronavirus relief so far, according to a tally by the Governor’s Office.
The state has received roughly $10.8 billion from relief programs, as of May 19, and economic impact payments, as of May 22. For comparison, the state’s GDP is between $114 billion and $120 billion.

Gov. Pete Ricketts is telling counties to reopen their courthouses and offices to the public on a nonappointment basis – “basically, business as usual” – by June 15 if they want coronavirus relief funding.
Counties failing to meet that deadline won’t be eligable for reimbursements from the federal CARES Act, Ricketts announced at a news conference.

An initiative aimed to promoting the safety of Nebraska companies, employees and customers was launched earlier this month.
Be Safe Nebraska is a project of the National Safety Council’s Nebraska Chapter in collaboration with the Greater Omaha Chamber, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The initiative asks companies to pledge to adopt best safety practices.
