REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS

July 7, 2026

 

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Waterloo met for a Regular Meeting on July 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm in the Village Office, 509 S. Front Street. Present were Chairperson Travis Harlow and Trustees Rotert, Rochford and Sass. Trustee Ewing was absent. Attorney Solomon and Clerk Smith were also present.

Chairperson Harlow called the meeting to orderat 7:00 pm and stated the location of the Open Meetings Act. Notice of the meeting was duly exercised and mailed per the bylaws.

Minutes from the June 8, 2026 Regular Meeting, June 9, 2026 Special Meeting and June’s Treasurer Report were approved as presented.

The following motions were approved:

- To put Holiday Lights of Omaha quotes on file

- To put Premier Lighting quote on file.

- To use smart beacons for the alarming system

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-01, to approve purchase of mosquito repellent supplies from Veseris in the amount of $3,749.00

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-02, to approve proposal from Custom Electric to add a sub-panel in Memorial Park at a cost of $5,100.00

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-03, to approve purchase of pass to Omaha Children’s Museum at a total cost of $550.00

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-04, to approve closure of a portion of West Maple Road until August 12, 2026

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-05, to approve purchasing policy updates

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-06, to approve partial closure of 2nd Street from Blondo Street to Denton Street on July 11, 2026 from 7pm to 11pm for a birthday party

- To approve Resolution 07-07-26-07, to approve bank loan with Foundation One Bank in the amount of $126,000.00 for the tractor and mower attachment

- To average the monthly bill for Hamel Manufacturing and charge that amount for 5 months in question on their account, crediting the remainder to their account

- To enter executive session at 8:47pm for 13 minutes to prevent the needless injury to an individual’s reputation and that person has not requested the discussion in open session. The reason for executive session was restated.

- To leave executive session at 9:14pm

SPECIAL MEETING PROCEEDINGS

July 9, 2026

 

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Waterloo met for a Special Meeting on July 9, 2026 at 5:30 pm in the Village Office, 509 S. Front Street. Present were Chairperson Travis Harlow and Trustees Ewing, Sass, and Rochford (arrived at 5:40pm). Trustee Rotert was absent, Clerk Smith was also present.

Chairperson Harlow called the meeting to order at 5:37pm and stated the location of the Open Meetings Act. Notice of the meeting was duly exercised and mailed per the bylaws.

The following motion was approved:

- To post the wages on the maintenance position job posting at $28-$32/hour

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:59 pm. A special meeting is scheduled for July 21, 2026 at 5:00pm and the next regular meeting is scheduled for August 10, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

SPECIAL MEETING PROCEEDINGS

July 21, 2026

 

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Waterloo met for a Special Meeting on July 21, 2026 at 5:00 pm in the Village Office, 509 S. Front Street. Present were Chairperson Travis Harlow and Trustees Rotert, Rochford, Ewing, and Sass. Clerk Smith was also present.

Chairperson Harlow called the meeting to order at 5:05pm and stated the location of the Open Meetings Act. Notice of the meeting was duly exercised and mailed per the bylaws.

The following motions were approved:

- To change the job posting from maintenance employee to maintenance supervisor with a new wage range of $35-$40/hour and additions to the description to include supervising employees, budget preparation, monthly reporting, basic computer knowledge, and ability to organize and maintain records

- To waive the three readings of Ordinance 861, to set employee wages

- To approve Ordinance 861

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:49 pm. The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 10, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

Public Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Waterloo, Nebraska, held at 5:00 o’clock P.M. on July 21, 2026, there was passed and adopted Ordinance No. 861 entitled:

 

AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE COMPENSATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE VILLAGE OF WATERLOO, DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEBRASKA; REPLACING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
