Des Moines, Iowa – Iowa abortion providers and the state reached an agreement last week whereby a recent order by Gov. Kim Reynolds to temporarily halt elective medical procedures as part of her coronavirus response will not apply to all abortions.

Douglas County officials received confirmation last week that six more long term care residents and three staff members of the Douglas County Health Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

With two residents previously confirmed positive, the total number of residents climbed to eight.  Of those, five are hospitalized.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced it has made $850 million available to public safety agencies responding to the challenges posed by COVID-19 outbreak.

 The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding program, authorized by the recent stimulus legislation, allows eligible state, local, and tribal governments to apply immediately for critical funding.

The City of Omaha and Waste Management agreed to limit yardwaste collection to four cans/sacks per household, the city recently announced. This limit in yardwaste collection will remain in effect until further notice and will be enforced beginning today, the city said.
