Health Center Reports Positive Tests Among Patients, Staff
Douglas County officials received confirmation last week that six more long term care residents and three staff members of the Douglas County Health Center have tested positive for COVID-19.
With two residents previously confirmed positive, the total number of residents climbed to eight. Of those, five are hospitalized.
“We are doing everything in our power to contain the spread,” said Erin Nelson, administrator of Douglas County Health Center.
Experts affiliated with Nebraska Medicine’s Biocontainment Unit took a tour of the center to offer additional suggestions. Center staff are trained, required to wear N95 masks and are screened prior to each shift with temperature checks.
“No one has ever experienced anything like COVID-19 in this lifetime, and our leadership team is working tirelessly and diligently to ensure the safety and health of all of our staff and residents,” said Douglas County Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson.
