An open letter of apology to the people who were at the Augustana Lutheran Church on September 25th to hear the Republican nominee for Secretary of State, Scott Petersen, speak.

I’m sorry I disrupted your meeting. I’m sorry I got up, yelled, and stormed out in the middle of it. I shouldn’t have done that.

Here’s a synopsis of what happened.

One of the many duties of a Secretary of State is to serve on the Pardons Board.

I know the consequences of this election are very serious, but there are some things that are going on that just make me chuckle.

Like the ads where Brinker Harding is throwing horseshoes, now I agree with him that the extremes on the left and the right have gone too far. I agree that both sides need to work together to find common ground.

The snow beat sideways against Veila’s brow. She pulled her hood defiantly and sneered into the wind. The whipping gale spun a solid veil across her vision.

“Close the door, my Veila!” her mother called. “They will be back when they’re back. Your watching is only letting in the cold.”

 I have to wonder if any of the people who are upset about what Dan Osborn said about rural Nebraskans were just as upset when Governor Pillen called liberals “libtards” or when Donald Trump calls other Americans he disagrees with all sorts of names?

Or are those who were upset about the libtard and Trump comments bothered by what Dan Osborn said?

Maybe the bigger question is, does any of this even matter to most voters? Is this all “sticks and stones?”
