With multitudes of worthy charities to choose from – and the possibility that a poorly run or fake nonprofit might trick you into thinking it’s a good cause – it’s sometimes hard to know which ones to support.

That’s why many donors rely on ratings from groups like Charity Navigator, GuideStar and the BBB Wise Giving Alliance to make more-informed choices.

Project Harmony: Creating A Safe And Promising Future For All Children And Families

Project Harmony’s goal is to protect and support children and works to end child abuse and neglect.  They work with professionals to create programs that will help with healing and empowering individuals who have been affected by abuse and are striving to end the cycle. As the project says, “anyone can have the opportunity to help a child — to help that child find the courage to use their voice — and to see the vision of what potential that child can have.”

Front Porch Nonprofit Awards Loans And Grants To Spark More Omaha-Area Affordable Housing

OMAHA — Sixteen organizations collectively have been awarded $11 million in low-interest loans and grants to create more affordable housing in the Omaha area.

Front Porch Investments said that its latest round of “Development and Preservation Fund” recipients, announced Thursday, should generate 221 dwellings and help launch four new housing programs and four planning grants.

Omaha, Neb. May 16, 2023 — No More Empty Pots will partner with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a $25 million cooperative agreement award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the creation of the Heartland Regional Foods Business Center.

Deadline Extended For Grant Program To Remove Nitrates From Private Wells

LINCOLN — Grant funds have gone unclaimed, so a state agency has extended the deadline for Nebraskans with high nitrate levels in private wells to obtain rebates to finance reverse osmosis systems.

Only 92 applications were received by a March 31 deadline for the $1.2 million available for the program.

Planned Parenthood North Central States has fired two members of the elected bargaining team in charge of negotiating wages, benefits and working conditions for hundreds of newly unionized employees across five states, including Nebraska.
