Seventeen Omaha-area lawyers were among the 30 distinguished Nebraska lawyers honored last month as fellows of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation.

Foundation Board President Steve Guenzel encouraged the fellows to support the group’s 2020 theme: “Educate to Engage: Citizenship Through Civics.”

“At a time of great public discord, the Nebraska State Bar Foundation offers resources and programs to help students, educators, community leaders and others teach and model ways to be responsible, engaged citizens and to set good examples for others,” he said.

The fellows were recognized during the foundation’s 32nd annual Fellows Dinner at the Holland Center in Omaha on March 13, a day before the first case of community spread and the restrictions on public gatherings.

Thirty lawyers are nominated and selected each year to be fellows. The foundation has more than 800 fellows, who are picked for their integrity and character, their leadership and service, their dedication to improving the administration of justice and their contributions to the foundation.
