The Siena Francis House concluded a $30 million renovation project at its campus at 17th and Nicholas streets in Omaha.

The newly renovated Baright building opened last Thursday to house the Miracles Residential Addiction Treatment & Recovery Program, as well as a centralized laundry facility. It had been used for decades as the men’s shelter, but a new shelter to house men and women opened at the site last December.

Funding for the project came from Heritage Services and the city’s philanthropic community. The City of Omaha paid for site remediation and street improvements to support the project.

“As we started to plan for the best path forward, our philanthropic partners responded with a miracle of their own: to fund the renovations of our former Baright Shelter, an aging facility that had outlived its useful life,” said Linda Twomey, Siena Francis House executive director and CEO.

The Miracles program has 80 beds available, with an average stay of nine months. The 12-step program is free to adults who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness due to substance abuse disorders.

“During this time of gratitude, Siena Francis House is thankful for Heritage Services and all philanthropic partners who believed in Miracles,” Twomey said. “The commitment to this campus and program is a vital step towards ending the cycle of homelessness in our community.”
