Gov. Pete Ricketts used his administration’s weekly news conference to encourage Nebraskans to exercise regularly.
Ricketts led a 20-minute walk through the State Capitol following the remarks, which included State of Nebraska Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gary Anthone stressing the disease-prevention benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
“Regular physical activity is one of the keys to living the Good Life,” Ricketts said. “I encourage all Nebraskans to pursue active lifestyles and healthy living for themselves and their families. Susanne and I also encourage Nebraskans to sign up for the LiveWell Challenge, which can help you track your progress throughout the year.”
More than 6,900 Nebraskans are participating in the LiveWell Challenge, an activity tracking website that offers virtual badges for milestones and helpers users find local trails, parks and events.
Those participating in the next challenge in February would be eligible to win a prize drawing for a $250 Visa gift card if they log at least 30 miles in the contest.
