Ralston High School hosted its monthly food distribution day Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Through a grant from the Food Bank for the Heartland, the school is able to host monthly food distribution days, offering a range of food and hygiene items for students and their families in the community.
The R-Pantry – RHS’s in-school pantry – is open Fridays, but it may be available other times by appointment.
The R-Pantry even remained open and continued serving students and families when the COVID-19 pandemic struck the country in March 2020. Throughout that spring, National Honor Society sponsors, Andrea Hartman and Daniel Boster, along with RHS staff and volunteers prepared 75 bags of food per week for families to pick up at RHS. By May 2020, R-Pantry was able to restart monthly mobile food pantries with Foodbank of the Heartland on site in the RHS parking lot. This effort served more than 160 area families.
