Omaha Named No. 2 Best City For U.S. Renters
Omaha was recently ranked as the second best city in the United States for renters by Forbes Advisors, with Lincoln securing the No. 4 spot.
Omaha was second only to Plano, Texas, in the rankings, according to a news release from the Greater Omaha Chamber.
“The pandemic has shown us that having a good amount of living space is essential. Especially for those working from home, space for a home office is important,” said Amy Danise, chief insurance analyst at Forbes Advisor. “That’s why we put emphasis on apartment qualities in our rankings. This includes amenities like pools and in-unit washers and dryers that are more than conveniences — they can make life more enjoyable.”
Danise said the rankings considered the quality of space, kitchens, in-unit washers and dryers and other factors, such as parks, weather and crime.
“When you add a good rental price in, you’ve found the best cities,” Danise said.
According to Forbes, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Omaha is $1,084 a month for an average of 1,086 square feet.
About 81% of apartment dwellers in Omaha are within a 10-minute walk of a park.
