An Omaha-to-Lincoln intercity bus route is the topic of a feasibility study by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

The project team at NDOT will discuss strategies for proposed transit routes between the cities at upcoming open house meetings.

“We continue to work with our transportation partners to deliver statewide mobility by providing enhanced transportation choices to Nebraskans,” NDOT Director Kyle Schneweis said in a news release. “Gauging the interest of Nebraska motorists in a Lincoln to Omaha intercity bus route is an important step in meeting our goal of maximizing existing transportation resources.”

The open house meetings will be held later this week:

• Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Greenwood Fire Hall, 251 Broad St., Greenwood.

• Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lancaster County Extension Office, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln.

• Friday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 2825 Y St., Omaha.

“We look forward to working with our consultant and university partners to facilitate coordination among transportation providers and improving mobility options across the state,” Transit Manager Kari Ruse said in a release.

The study, slated to be completed by April, is part of the Nebraska Mobility Management program. For more on the state program, visit nebraskatransit.com.
