Nearly 500 attendees came out for the Immigrant Legal Center’s fifth annual Food Truck World Tour, giving $234,500 to support the nonprofit law firm.

The Oct. 3 fundraiser, held at the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology at Metropolitan Community College’s Fort Omaha campus, included food and cultural performances.

Participating food venders were Maria Bonita Mexican Cuisine, Chaima African Cuisine, Sweet Lime Thai Food Truck, El Arepon Venezuela Food, Omaha Steaks and Coneflower Creamery. The Flamenco Omaha and Gurukulam Indian Dance Group offered an interpretation of their cultures.

Kristin Williams and Roxanne Wiles were the food truck rally’s honorary chairs, one of the most fun events in Omaha.

“We are so proud to support Immigrant Legal Center because of all the work that they do to help immigrants get their legal needs met,” Williams said.

Wiles added that the center’s work is needed in this country.

“We’re on the right side of history,” Wiles said. “We’re so excited to be doing this and having this event, which is such a success this year.”

The event’s host committee co-chairs were Esther Mejia and Jeneen Sagon as well as Ryan Ellis and Jonathan Taylor.
