Douglas County Election 9/20/2024
DOUGLAS COUNTY
NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 5th of November, 2024 at the usual polling places in the election precincts of Douglas County, Nebraska, a general election will be held. The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Said election will be for electing candidates for various offices. All races will not appear on every general election ballot as the candidates are elected by specific subdivisions, districts, or wards. At the same time, constitutional amendments, referendums, and initiative measures will be voted upon by the voters of the State of Nebraska. The Secretary of State will publish a true copy of the title and text of the amendments, referendums, and initiatives once each week for three consecutive weeks preceding the election. The following is a list of all offices, candidates, and issues that will appear on the general ballots.

Shall the City of Omaha be authorized to issue and sell general obligation bonds in the amount of eighty million, nine hundred thousand and no/100 dollars ($80,900,000) for the purpose of providing funds for payment of the cost of streets, highways and bridges, the approximate cost to the taxpayers of the City of Omaha if this proposal is approved to be eighty million, nine hundred thousand and no/100 dollars ($80,900,000) plus interest payable on said bonds to be paid from the fund for principal and interest payments on the indebtedness of the City of Omaha as proposed in the notice of election which also provides that the approval of this bond issue will not incur any increases in the debt services tax levy rate of the City of Omaha over the levy increase approved in 2020?

Establishing A Good Life District
Economic Development Program
A vote “FOR” establishing a Good Life District Economic Development Program shall grant the City of Omaha the authority to create such programs which allow the use of revenue collected within a Good Life District, but does not permit the City to appropriate property taxes to such program or to appropriate local option sales and use tax or occupation tax sourced from outside the Good Life District to such Program.
A vote “AGAINST” will not allow the City to establish such program.
Shall the City of Omaha be authorized to establish a Good Life District Economic Development Program for any area within the City which is included in a Good Life District established pursuant to the Good Life Transformational Projects Act, and shall the City be authorized to appropriate the local sources of revenue collected within such Good Life District Program area, which may include local option sales and use taxes and occupation taxes, established pursuant to and as permitted by the Good Life District Economic Development Act?
