The Nebraska Department of Transportation released its annual construction update for the Omaha Metro. Below are some of the major projects to be aware of.

Lane and shoulder closures are expected, but that won’t occur during the College World Series (June 19–29/30) or the Olympic Swim Trials (June 4–7 and June 13–20).
• Eleven bridges on the Highway 75 and Interstate 480 interchange, along with the Burt Street and Cuming Street will be worked on from July until Fall. All lanes will remain open during rush hours, the CWS and swim trials.
• Ongoing construction on the Murray Viaduct to Highway 34/75 will continue through this fall. Reconstruction of Highway 34/75 to a four-lane expressway is expected to start this summer and last until 2023.
• Work has begun to widen Highway 275/L Street from 25th to 23rd Streets, adding dual left turn lanes at 24th Street.
• The Harney Street Bike Way Pilot Project is tentatively set to begin this month and will be completed in fall 2022. Harney Street from Dewey Avenue to 10th Street will have lane restrictions while a two-way protected bike facility is constructed along the south side of the roadway.
• A project for improvements at Interstate 680, Interstate 80 to Fort Street will last from this spring to fall. Work will take place overnight, with lane closures occurring after the evening rush and reopening before the morning rush.
• Resurfacing of Highway 75 from Blair to Herman is ongoing and expected to be complete in fall 2022.
Be alert for lane closures, flaggers, pilot cars and temporary traffic signals. Motorists in work zone are reminded to slow down and stay alert, follow signs and detours and watch for construction workers.
