SPECIAL PUBLIC BUDGET HEARING

I.       Call Special Public Budget Hearing to Order- The Hearing was called to order by Board President Allyson Slobotski at 5:50 p.m. noting the meeting was governed by the Open Meeting Act and a copy of the Act was located on the South wall of the Board Room.

 

II.     Presentation of 2023-2024 Amended Budget- In September, the BOE approved the QCPUF budget for the 2023-24 school year at $4,214,295. In November, the BOE approved paying off $4,200,000 in bond principal early to save on interest payments over the remaining life of the bond. After the November meeting, it was discovered that the approved payment of the QCPUF bonds exceeded the authorized amount in the NDE budget because the federal subsidy applied to the account had to be expensed prior to being reimbursed later in the fiscal year, thus necessitating an amendment to the budget. BPS paid $4,320,141 out of the QCPUF account to close out the bonds, exceeding the approved budgeted amount by $105,846. The new proposed QCPUF budget amount is $4,350,141. This proposed budget amendment would have no impact on the tax asking or tax levy.

 

III.   Conduct Public Hearing on 2023-2024 Amended Budget- No members of the Public were present to speak.

I. Call Meeting to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public.

VII.C. Review and Discuss Superintendent Evaluation- The goal of the Superintendent’s formal evaluation is to ensure the education program for the students is carried out, promote growth in effective administrative leadership, clarify the superintendent’s role, clarify the immediate priorities of the board, and develop a working relationship between the board and the superintendent. President Allyson Slobotski read the Board’s evaluation of the Superintendent.

 

VII.D. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Superintendent Contract- The Superintendent contract is up for renewal. Changes to the contract include a new salary and additional benefits. All other language remains unchanged.
