ADOPTABLE FRIENDS
Buddy
Adoption Fee: $200
“Buddy is proof that senior dogs are the BEST! This little man came to rescue through some unfortunate circumstances where his previous mom who had him his entire life unfortunately was unable to care for him anymore. He was a hefty 20+ pounds when he arrived due to unmanaged Cushing’s Disease. We have been able to work with our vet to get his symptoms under control through properly managed medication and he is enjoying life on the lighter side! He still has a few more pounds to lose, so he will need an owner willing to continue his current diet and exercise plan to keep him healthy!
Buddy is a sweet old man who LOVES to run morning zoomies in the yard before taking his breakfast (preferably in bed....) and settling in for his morning nap. He STRONGLY prefers to be wherever his person is, so he’ll need a family who will be okay with having a permanent fluffy shadow!! He does fantastic with other dogs, cats and kids but isn’t afraid to let you know when he’s a little overwhelmed. He’ll give you the classic Chi growl and act like Cujo, but his Little Dog Syndrome is all for show.
He currently sleeps in a kennel at night but he would absolutely prefer snuggling up in bed with his person. He came to us moderately housebroken (uses potty pads consistently, but sometimes won’t tell you he has to go if potty pads aren’t available). He will need a patient owner willing to understand that at 12yo, it’s hard to break some bad habits. He tries really hard and as long as you give him plenty of opportunities to go potty outside, he’s pretty good at keeping the house for indoor activities only!
He is currently on 15mg of Vetoryl and 10mg of Fluoxitine per day which costs approximately $165/month through an online pharmacy. He will need to remain on these medications for life and will need annual monitoring of his cortisol levels. Please keep these expenses in mind when considering adoption.”
Will
Adoption Fee: $350
“At one-year-old, Will is still very much in puppy mode. He LOVES to play with everyone, including other dogs. He is such a well-behaved boy. He’s never touched an item laying around his foster house. He pretty much has free range of the house, and his foster mom trusts him… even when it’s “really quiet”
He loves to go on walks and be outside. He will go to the door and knock on the window when he wants to go out. He’s never tried to escape, dig or jump the fence. Will’s foster mom hasn’t seen a prey drive even on walks. He does get rowdy during play time. But is doing really well with redirection and “leave it” ques. Occasionally, he will jump when you come home, but again responds to correction.
He is SUPER smart. He now knows shake, sit, down and wait (when opening doors or waiting his turn for snuggles). Will is kennel trained and likes his kennel and has been enjoying a mid-morning nap to help with the rough play. He LOVES couch time. He will be right by your side, or on top of you, as soon as you sit down. He entertains himself with bones or chasing his shadow. Will will thrive in an active family willing to take him on all their adventures. He really just wants to be with his people.”
