ABA Establishes Task Force to Address Pandemic Legal Needs
Volunteer lawyers and judges have come together to create a task force to address legal needs connected to the coronavirus.
The American Bar Association seeks to connect people in need with volunteer lawyers via the task force, which includes experts in disaster relief, health law, insurance, human rights, medical and employment benefits, criminal justice and social justice.
“Thousands of Americans will need help –not just with medical issues but also with legal issues including lost jobs, evictions, insurance claims, family emergencies and obtaining government benefits they need to survive,” ABA President Judy Perry Martinez said in a statement.
James Sandman will chair the task force. Sandman was previously the president of the Legal Services Corporation, which funds legal aid for low-income families.
