Two days after voting for independence from Great Britain, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the members of the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Here’s a look at some of numbers associated with the Independence Day holiday:

40: Approved fireworks vendors in the City of Omaha.

11 p.m.: The deadline to discharge legal fireworks in Omaha city limits. In Ralston and Sarpy County cities, the deadline isn’t until midnight.

911: The number to call for a fireworks-related emergency like an injury or fire. For fireworks or other noise complaints, call 402-444-5802 in Douglas County or 402-593-4111 in Sarpy County.

120: Injuries connected to fireworks reported to the Nebraska Fire Marshal’s Office in 2018.

$332 million: Value of fireworks imported into the United States in 2018, according to the U.S. Census.

$1.3 billion: Estimated revenue from display and consumer fireworks in 2018, according to the American Pyrotechnics Association.

27th: Nebraska’s rank among the most patriotic states, according to an analysis by personal finance website WalletHub that examined military and civic engagement.

1.2 million: Square feet covered by March flooding at Offutt Air Force Base, where estimated costs of repairs may exceed $650 million.

72%: Americans in 2018 who told Gallup they are extremely or very proud to be an American. Only 10% were only a little or not at all proud of their national identity.

150 million: Number of hot dogs Americans eat on July 4th alone each year. If you lined them up, they’d stretch coast to coast and back again nearly three times.

13: The number of times the Liberty Bell is lightly tapped each year on Independence Day. The famous crack makes ringing the bell impossible.
