Put Emotions Aside, Inform Your Opinion

Published by josie@omahadail... on Mon, 11/27/2023 - 5:00am

There’s a very good chance that before this summer is over at least one person if not numerous people will walk up to you and ask you to sign a petition to make abortion legal in Nebraska up until the time of viability.

We’ve Got To Start Somewhere

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 11/13/2023 - 4:00am

The Omaha Daily Record is in the process of publishing a series of reports informing the metro on the new streetcar that is scheduled to come to Omaha. It’s a controversial project, but then again name a major development in Omaha that hasn’t been met with some controversy.

The Mike Johnson Debacle

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 11/06/2023 - 1:00am

Let me preface what I am about to write by saying that I like and respect Congressman Don Bacon. I thoroughly supported him in his efforts to keep Jim Jordan from becoming Speaker of the House.

Dangerous Nitrate Levels Are No Game, Nebraskans Deserve Solutions

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 10/30/2023 - 6:00am

Recently there was much discussion about an article from the Flatwater Free Press regarding the nitrates in the water on and near Gov Pillen’s hog farms and the comments the Governor made about them on KFAB radio.

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 10/23/2023 - 2:00am

What if I told you there was something that would help ease the problem of our overcrowded prisons? What if I said this same solution would help alleviate the homeless situation? Prevent suicides? Cut back on the number of domestic violence calls? Drunk driving deaths? And improve employee attendance records?

This Is Not An Endorsement … But …

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 10/16/2023 - 4:00am

I went to the kickoff announcement of the Dan Osborn for Senate campaign. The event was well attended for something like that, but it wasn’t overflowing. Then again, unless you have a powerful political party with a lot of money behind you, events like these are rarely overflowing.

I’ve been to a lot of these things over the years, but this one was a little different.

You see Dan Osborn is an independent running to replace incumbent Senator Deb Fisher. As Aaron Sanderford with the Nebraska Examiner put it, he is neither helped nor hindered by a political party.

What We Need Is Voter I.Q.

Published by jason@omahadail... on Mon, 10/09/2023 - 4:00am

In the last election Nebraska voters decided the state needed Voter I.D. — even though there was never ever any evidence of any substantial voter fraud. The Cornhusker voters decided that Voter ID was just what we needed. I say we don’t need voter I.D. What we need is Voter I.Q.
