Papillion, La Vista, And Gretna, Nebraska To Receive ALLO Communication’s Fiber Optic Network

LINCOLN, Neb. – ALLO Communications today announced fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) projects offering up to 10 Gigabit bandwidth in the communities of Papillion, La Vista, and Gretna, Nebraska. These fiber connections will enable world-class internet, telephone, video, and other broadband services for the communities.

Regional Survey Shows Slumping Economic Confidence, Foresees ‘Flat’ Holiday Activity

OMAHA — Confidence in the economy slumped again in September, fueling the worst string of optimism readings since the 2008-09 recession, according to the author of Creighton University’s Mid-America Business Conditions Index.

How Company Off-Sites Are Changing Business Travel

With fewer employees working in offices, several companies have begun turning toward off-site retreats and meetups to foster connection and improve employee morale. These off-site experiences are flipping traditional business travel on its head: Rather than emphasizing coworking, meetings and other work-centric itineraries, off-site retreats are often designed to encourage relationship building.

Goats Working At Big Lake Park In Council Bluffs, Iowa

For the second time this year, The City of Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation Department has hired a crew of four-legged seasonal employees to help clear unwanted vegetation. Currently, 45 goats are working to clear a five-acre area along the northern section of Big Lake Park in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

This year's Nobel Prize season approaches as Russia's invasion of Ukraine has shattered decades of almost uninterrupted peace in Europe and raised the risks of a nuclear disaster. The famously secretive Nobel Committee never leaks or hints who will win its prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, literature, economics or peace. The awards will be announced starting next Monday. But there is no lack of causes deserving the spotlight that comes with winning the world's most prestigious prize.

Paving The Way For Change Is The Theme For Omaha Chamber’s Oct. 6 Diversity Conference

Making change in the community is the impetus of the 2022 Conference on Opportunity, Diversity and Equity, hosted by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. With 15 breakout sessions ranging from inclusion, insensitivity, and building diversity to addressing burnout, “Paving the Way for Equitable Change" is the theme for the fourth annual conference, which will be held at CHI Health Center Omaha Oct. 6.

Dick Turpin Outdoor Education Memorial Fund Established

When Michelle Collins graduated from nursing school in the 1980s, there was a workforce shortage. There were incentive programs and scholarships to encourage people to enter the field. Hospitals and other health systems created programs that would fund aspiring nurses’ educations with an obligated work contract.
