When parents try to shield their kids from financial hardship, they may be doing them a favor: Teens’ views about their families’ economic challenges are connected to their mental health and behavior.
That’s the main finding of a study into household income and child development that I recently conducted with my colleagues.

OMAHA — Nebraska’s No. 1 champion of mountain lions has been watching all the fuss and fascination in the news media over one of the big cats mysteriously making its way around southwest Omaha.
And former State Sen. Ernie Chambers — who during his 46 years in the Legislature tried to outlaw the hunting of mountain lions in the state — said it’s times like this that he wishes he was still in office.

Most Americans (62%) own a pet, including about a third (35%) who have more than one. And nearly all U.S. pet owners (97%) say their pets are part of their family, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.

With the ascension of King Charles III to the British throne, some commentators have made much of the fact that the new stamp bearing his image features the king without a crown.
This is a major break with a tradition that began in 1840 with the world’s first postage stamp, the Penny Black, which featured the reigning monarch, Queen Victoria, wearing her crown.
