FDA Change Ushers In Cheaper, Easier-To-Get Hearing Aids

It's now a lot easier — and cheaper — for many hard-of-hearing Americans to get help.

Hearing aids can now be sold without a prescription from a specialist. Over-the-counter, or OTC, hearing aids started hitting the market in October at prices that can be thousands of dollars lower than prescription hearing aids.

Prosperity Index: Nebraska Ranked No. 11 Among States

OMAHA — Nebraska ranked 11th among the states for overall prosperity in a newly released report, scoring low in certain areas such as its natural environment but making up ground in others including health and employment.

Behind the findings are partnering organizations, the Legatum Institute and the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream.

Two Communities Find A Cure For Medical Debt: Pandemic Stimulus Funds

US Supply Chain Under Threat As Unions, Railroads, Clash

(AP) — Railroad engineers accepted their deal with the railroads that will deliver 24% raises but conductors rejected theirs, threatening the health of the economy just before the holidays and casting more doubt on whether the industry will be able to resolve the labor dispute before next month's deadline without the help of Congress.

Business Survey: Remote Working In Nebraska May Be Leveling Off

OMAHA — While remote workers have multiplied since the pandemic hit, a new survey of Nebraska businesses signals that the trend locally might have leveled off.

“Remote working has grown, but managers don’t expect it will grow further in the next year,” said economist Eric Thompson, who led the study. “The flip side is they don’t think it’s a temporary thing. They’re expecting this increase to hold.”
