Understanding Credit Scores

March is National Credit Education Month, a time to learn about credit scores and what they mean for you.

In the simplest terms, a credit score is the way businesses can predict the likelihood that you will pay them back in time. Using a complex mathematical formula, they decide if you are a safe or high risk, and whether or not they can trust you with a loan of any kind.

Top Cities For Maintaining A Healthy Work, Life Balance

A new study by Coworking Cafe – an information hub that works to find the best coworking spaces across the country – has rated the top cities for maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Evaluating 100 cities, all with populations of 200,000 or higher, they split their metrics into 4 categories: Mental Heath, Affordability, Remote Work, and Commute.

Nebraska Ranks 10th in States That Offer The Best Elder Care

A study by SonderCare, a home hospital bed provider, looked into the states offering the best elder care. Using the number of nursing homes and respite facilities per 100,000 citizens, occupancy rates in the last year, private and semi-private nursing home monthly costs, and the percent of nursing homes with 0 deficiencies, all 50 states were compared.

Metro Residents Comment On Streetcar Project

Coalition Challenges Residency Requirements For Public Schools

Members say school district boundaries reflect redlining of years past and unfairly keep some kids in underperforming schools.

More than 40 education advocacy organizations have teamed up to fight longstanding residency requirements that tie children to their local public schools — rather than letting them transfer to places that might serve them better. 

The No More Lines Coalition aims to end what it calls “discriminatory public school district boundary lines” in all 50 states by 2030.

EPA Approves Year-Round Sales Of Higher Ethanol Blend In 8 Midwest States

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Drivers in eight Midwestern states will be able to fuel up with a higher blend of ethanol throughout the year under a final rule announced last Thursday by the Environmental Protection Agency.
