PARIS (AP) — World donors pledged more than $2.1 billion in humanitarian aid for Sudan after a yearlong war that has pushed its population to the brink of famine, French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday.

From Red Cloud To Fremont, Seven NE Towns Share $4m In Awards To Perk Up Community Appeal

LINCOLN — Seven Nebraska cities will share $4 million in state grants to help develop recreation and civic improvement projects in their communities.

Selected and announced by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the recipients’ awards come from the state Civic and Community Center Financing Fund, which was created from a turnback of 30% of state sales tax generated by arenas and nearby retailers.

Lawmakers Want To Ease Nebraska’s Child Care Crisis. Will It Be Enough?

A single email sent in early March disrupted the lives of 116 Lincoln-area families. The Dimensions child care center at First-Plymouth Church will close for good on May 23, the email said.

The initial response to that announcement: panic. Parents scrambled for alternative care. The center’s 27 teachers feared for their jobs.

Hospice Care For Those With Dementia Falls Far Short Of Meeting People’s Needs At The End Of Life

Jimmy Carter, who chose to forgo aggressive medical care for complications of cancer and frailty in February 2023, recently reached his one-year anniversary since enrolling in hospice care. During this time, he celebrated his 99th birthday, received tributes far and wide and stood by the side of his beloved wife, Rosalynn, who died in November 2023.
