What are your connections to the community?

I have spent my entire life in Omaha. My business is in Omaha. Omaha is a special city and has done so much for me over the years that I like to give back to the community. I have served on and led various boards at St. Gerald’s Church where I am a parishioner. I have been an Ambassador at the Omaha Visitor’s Center for seven years. I have volunteered for the Food Bank for the Heartland, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the  Special Olympics. My roots run deep here in Omaha.

What experience do you bring to the office?

I have run a small business for over 30 years. Running a successful business has given me experience with budgeting, strategic planning and developing customer relationships. Being appointed by Mayor Stothert to the Omaha Planning Board in 2016 has given me experience with regard to developments in the city, working with other departments within City Hall and working with and listening to citizens as they support and oppose projects.

What would one of your top priorities be?

One of my top priorities is to promote Omaha as a midwestern destination. I would like to work with the private sector, the arts and entertainment industry, the Chamber and Convention folks to create an identity. Getting more visitors to Omaha will increase tax revenues which could help to keep our taxes stable or possibly lowered.  I also feel that we may be able to retain some of our young people if we have more to do and offer.

What motivated you to run for public office?

I have a desire to make Omaha better. I believe that my experience in business, serving on the Omaha Planning Board and being active in the community has prepared me to serve on the Council.

What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?

It depends on who you talk to. Some feel that there are issues with the Omaha Police Department. Others feel that Omaha has a shortage of affordable housing.  I feel that the biggest issue that Omaha faces is still taxes.  We are losing people from this city and state because of the tax burden they face. We have to look at how the city spends money and  see if there isn’t a better way of doing things.

Is there anything else you want to tell voters?

I am an honest, hard working person who loves the city of Omaha. If elected, I will be certain to listen and respond to the concerns of the citizens of Omaha.
