The Douglas County Clerk’s Office has stopped scheduling in-person appointments for marriage license applicants.

The restriction began last Friday, although appointments made this week will be honored. The office had previously closed to the public for other business.

Marriage licenses in Douglas County will be issued by mail. A news release states the policy will be in effect through May 1 or until a directed health order has been lifted in Douglas County.

“I want to thank marriage license applicants and all Douglas County citizens for honoring our efforts to make the Douglas County Clerk’s office a healthy environment for our staff and citizens,” Douglas County Clerk Daniel A. Esch said in a release.

To apply for a marriage license, a completed application, a copy of each applicant’s identification and a $34 fee is required. Those items should be mailed to Douglas County Clerk, 1819 Farnam St., Room H08, Omaha, NE 68183.
