Douglas County Court Postpones Arraignments
The Douglas County Court has postponed all criminal and traffic arraignments beginning today.
The court will reschedule court appearances set for March 27 through April 20, according to a news release issued by City Prosecutor Matthew M. Kuhse.
People who received a citation with a court date in that range do not have to appear and will not have a warrant issued against them for failure to appear.
Kuhse said they will receive an order with a new court date. Failing to show up to that rescheduled date could result in a warrant.
“This decision will reduce foot traffic into the courthouse and allow people to remain at home to avoid contact with others,” Kuhse said. “In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office will be mailing plea offers to some people in this date range. If people decide to take advantage of the offer, they will not have to come to court at all.”
The Douglas County Courthouse remains open to those who have business with the court.
