The Douglas County District Court has continued all jury trials until May and canceled remaining jury panels for March and April.
Order MS 20-32 was issued last Thursday by Fourth Judicial District Court Presiding Judge Shelly R. Stratman.
The order pertains to all jury trials for panels beginning March 23 through May 1, and it cites the order made by the Douglas County Board of Health the prior day.
The Nebraska Supreme Court also announced it is considering submitting cases on the April call without oral argument to limit exposure to the public and those at higher risk for COVID-19.
Attorneys and self-represented litigants cases – set for March 31 through April 3 – were provided a notice reminding them that the Nebraska Supreme Court may order any case submitted without oral argument, but that parties may file a motion requesting oral argument.
Parties may also elect to waive oral argument and submit cases only on briefs, unless otherwise directed by the court.
