I. Call Special Public Budget Hearing to Order- President Allyson Slobotski called the hearing to order at 6:00 p.m. The Board of Education makes available at least one current copy of the Open Meetings Act posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public. 

 

II. Presentation of the 2026-27 Budget- Dr. Plas provided a comprehensive review of the proposed 2026-27 budget including information on growth, budgeted expenses, and proposed tax levy.

 

III. Conduct Public Hearing on the 2026-27 Budget- No members of the public were present to speak.

I. Call Meeting to Order- Board President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:23 PM, noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act, which is available on the south end of the room.  

 

II. Public Forum- No members of the public were present to speak.  

 

III. Consent Agenda (Note: Items on the consent agenda are considered routine and will be enacted under one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items at the meeting unless a Board Member requests an item removed from the agenda for separate action.)  Approval of Agenda, Approval of Minutes of the Monday, August 10, 2026 - City/BOE Joint Meeting, Monday, August 10, 2026 - Regular Meeting, Monday, August 26, 2026 - Special Meeting, Presentation of September Bills for Approval and Payment, Personnel: Resignation(s) and Hiring of Personnel.

VII.A. Review 2026-27 Budget Projections and Timelines- Key budget items were highlighted and the Board was able to ask questions, make statements, and discuss the proposed 2026-2027 budget as presented.  

 

VII.B. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on District Purchases- The Building and Finance Committee is recommending the following be approved for purchase: Bus $85,450.  This is a used bus with lower mileage. The purchase would add an additional bus to our transportation fleet.

VII.C. Update on Bennington South High School Construction Progress- Representatives from Hausmann Construction and DLR were in attendance to provide an update on the progress of Bennington South High School. They shared details regarding recent architectural and construction developments as planning and site preparation continue to move forward.

 

VIII. Time and Date of Next Meetings- September 23rd – Special Meeting to Approve Budget at 5:00PM – Bennington District Office, October 12th – Regular Meeting at 6:00PM – Bennington District Office
