LINCOLN — Central Nebraska residents with designs on a part-time job in Lincoln have until 5 p.m. Nov. 8 to apply to replace State Sen. Tom Briese of Albion in the Legislature.
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, who will appoint Briese’s successor, said Wednesday his office is accepting applications by mail and online at https://governor.nebraska.gov/board-comm-req.
Pillen tapped Briese as the next state treasurer in mid-September. Briese’s last day representing District 41 is Oct. 31. He starts his new job Nov. 1.
District 41 covers all or parts of eight counties in central Nebraska: Wheeler, Boone, Valley, Greeley, Sherman, Howard, Buffalo and Hall.
Cities and towns within the district include Doniphan, Wood River, Ravenna, Loup City, Dannebrog, Ord and Albion.
The appointee would serve the remainder of Breise’s term, through the end of 2024. Pillen, a Republican, has said he appoints people willing to run for election.
