Minutes of Special Meeting
of the Board of Trustees
Village of Boys Town
December 21, 2021
A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Boys Town was held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in the Headquarters Building of Father Flanagan’s Boys’ Home in the Village of Boys Town, Nebraska.
Call to Order:
Chair Skartvedt called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m.
Notice of Meeting:
The Notice of Meeting was posted on December 14, 2021, to Beacon and Village of Boys Town websites, and in the following designated public places in the Village of Boys Town: Town Hall, Visitor’s Center, and Headquarters. The Notice of Meeting was also published in The Daily Record on December 14, 2021.
A copy of the Open Meetings Act was posted on the tables at both entrances to the Auditorium.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Consent Agenda and Minutes of Prior
Meeting:
Chair Skartvedt moved for approval of the December 7, 2021 Minutes.
Upon MOTION duly made by Lindley and seconded by West, the Consent Agenda and Minutes were accepted. The Village Clerk conducted roll call.

Other Business:
Promotion of Sergeant Adam Gill to the position of Deputy Chief of Police
The Board had an opportunity to review and discuss the request for promotion of Sergeant Adam Gill to Deputy Chief of Police effective January 1, 2022.
Upon MOTION duly made by West and seconded by Lindley, the promotion of Sergeant Adam Gill to Deputy Chief of Police effective January 1, 2022 was approved. The Village Clerk conducted roll call.

Motion carried: 3-0
Raises for Police Officers
A raise of up to 3.5 percent was budgeted for each of the police officers for the 2022 year. The Board elected to approve the recommendations of Chief Clark’s for each individual officer’s raise within the range of 0 percent to 3.5 percent.
Upon MOTION duly made by Lindley and seconded by West, the 2022 raises for the police officers was approved. The Village Clerk conducted roll call.

BodyWorn Camera System
Chief Clark provided a high-level overview of the benefits the Body Worn Camera System offers to the Boys Town Police Department. Due to enhanced safety mechanisms designed to increase the safety and well-being of youth, citizens, and officers, as well as the overall system cost and service, the new system was approved by the Board. Further, the Board delegated to Chief Clark the ability to sign the agreement for the system.
Upon MOTION duly made by Lindley and seconded by West, the BodyWorn Camera System was approved. The Village Clerk conducted roll call.

Next Meeting:
The next regular meeting of the Village Board is scheduled for Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 1:30PM.

There being no further business, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried by unanimous vote, the meeting adjourned at 1:45PM.
