The Board of Education, Gretna Public Schools, Gretna, Nebraska will receive Bids for a Combined Contract, including General Construction for the track replacement and field improvements at the Gretna High School, 11335 South 204th Street, Gretna Nebraska 68028.

Removal and replacement of the existing track, other field improvements and associated work. Bids must be on a Lump Sum basis.

Bids will be received until 2:00 PM (CST), on Thursday, March 20, 2025, by Gretna Public Schools at Gretna Public Schools Administration Building, 11717 South 216th Street, Gretna, Nebraska 68028. Bids received after this time will not be accepted.

Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately and simultaneously in the presence of bidders, or representatives of bidders, when the hour is reached for the bids to close.

PRE-BID CONFERENCE: The Architect-Engineer will hold a Pre-Bid Conference at Gretna High School, 11335 South 204th Street, Gretna Nebraska 68028 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, 2:00 PM. All prime Bidders are encouraged to attend.

Bidding Documents may be examined at the office of the Architect-Engineer, DLR Group Inc., 6457 Frances Street, Suite 200, Omaha, Nebraska 68106-2278; at  the  office  of  the  Printer, A & D Technical Supply Co., 4320 South 89th Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68127; and at the following exchanges after October 2nd, 2024.

Bidders may obtain Bidding Documents at the office of the Printer, A & D Technical Supply Co., 4320 South 89th Street, Omaha, Nebraska, Telephone (402/592-4950), from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and at web address www.adtechsupply.com, in accord with the Instructions to Bidders, upon depositing the sum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each set of Documents. Checks shall be made out to Gretna Public Schools. The entire deposit will be refunded to bona fide Bidders upon the return of the Documents, in good condition to A & D Technical Supply Co., within thirty (30) days after the Bid opening. If shipping is required, there will be a non-refundable fee required for each set shipped. The cost shall be determined by A & D Technical Supply Co. based on the size of the project. Checks for shipping shall be made out to A & D Technical Supply Co.

Members of Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa may obtain Bidding Documents by use of the non-cash security method adopted by the ABC of Iowa.

Members of Master Builders of Iowa may obtain Bidding Documents by use of the non-cash security method adopted by the Master Builders of Iowa, Inc.

Members of the Omaha Builders Exchange may obtain Bidding Documents by use of the OBE Non-Cash Security Method for Return of Plans and Specs endorsed by the Omaha Builders Exchange.

Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid must accompany each Bid in accord with the Instructions to Bidders.

All Bidders are subject to and must comply with applicable state and federal anti-discrimination laws.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive informalities or irregularities in the Bidding.

SECTION I - Opening Procedures

Notice of the meeting was given in advance by the publication and/or posting in accordance with the Board approved method for giving notice of meetings. Notice of this meeting was published in the public notices section of the February 17, 2025 edition of The Daily Record and on their website as well as on the district website. Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. The Secretary of the Board maintains a list of the news media requesting notification of meetings and advance notification to the listed media of the time and place of the meeting and the subjects to be discussed at this meeting was provided. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the publicized notice and a current copy of the Agenda was maintained as stated in the publicized notice. All proceedings of the Board of Education, except as may be hereinafter noted, were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

 

1.1   Call Meeting to Order - Rick Hollendieck called the meeting to order.

 

1.2   Roll Call - Board members present were: Kyle Janssen, Mark Hauptman, Dawn Stock, Greg Beach, Rick Hollendieck and Blake Turpen. Others present were: Travis Lightle, Andrew Rinaldi, Russ Olsen, Mike Sortino, Shawn Hoppes, Andy Boone, Molly Hornbeck, Caroline Foresman, Bret Basye, Karen Naylor, Amy Falcone, Wendi Kistler, Carissa Dickes, Mikaela Gabriel, Kirsten Troester, Jake Runyon, and guests.

 

1.3   Pledge of Allegiance - The board recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

1.4   Approval of Minutes - Motion by Kyle Janssen, seconded by Blake Turpen, to approve the minutes of February 10, 2025. A roll call vote was taken - Blake Turpen, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; and Dawn Stock, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

1.5   Recognition of Visitors - Gerald Kuhn, Chief Executive Officer of Learning Community introduced himself to the board as a resource for community partnership.

 

1.6   Public Hearing on the Math Curriculum Adoption (SP 1) - Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Dawn Stock to open the public hearing on the Math Curriculum Adoption. A roll call vote was taken - Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; and Greg Beach, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

Motion by Blake Turpen, seconded by Dawn Stock to close the public hearing on the Math Curriculum Adoption. A roll call vote was taken - Dawn Stock, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; and Rick Hollendieck, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

SECTION II - Matters Requiring Board Action

2.1   Consider Approval of Resignations and Contracts (SP 4) - Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Greg Beach to approve the resignations as stated. A roll call vote was taken - Mark Hauptman, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; and Dawn Stock, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

Motion by Dawn Stock, seconded by Mark Hauptman to approve the contracts as stated. A roll call vote was taken - Rick Hollendieck, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; and Greg Beach, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

2.2   Consider Approval of Out-of-State Trip Request (SP 1) - Motion by Kyle Janssen, seconded by Blake Turpen to approve the out-of-state trip request for GEHS Band. A roll call vote was taken - Greg Beach, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; and Kyle Janssen, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

2.3   Approval of Middle School Boundaries (SP 2) - Motion by Greg Beach, seconded by Blake Turpen to approve Plan 19 for the middle school boundaries. A roll call vote was taken - Blake Turpen, yes; Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Greg Beach, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; and Dawn Stock, yes.

Motion carried. Yeas 6; Nays 0; Absent 0.

 

SECTION III – Reports

3.1   Construction Report (SP 2) - Mike Kros from DLR and Jack Nelson from MCL Construction presented an update on the Giles Creek Middle School project.

 

3.2   Grading Report (SP 1) - The CIA department provided an update on grading practices, presenting findings from a recent survey of the grading committee. The report highlighted key insights and considerations based on committee feedback.

 

3.3   Birth to 5 and Elementary Mid-Year Report (SP 1) - Teresa Berube, Birth to Five Program Director, along with elementary school principals, presented their midterm reports.

 

3.4   Legislative Update Report (SP 2) - Burke Harr presented an update on the current legislative bills.

 

SECTION IV - Announcements and Dates

4.1   Adjournment - Motion by Mark Hauptman, seconded by Greg Beach, to adjourn the meeting. A roll call vote was taken - Kyle Janssen, yes; Rick Hollendieck, yes; Blake Turpen, yes; Mark Hauptman, yes; Dawn Stock, yes; and Greg Beach, yes.
