Posting Information: Notice published in the Daily Record on 03/07/2025. Notice of meeting posted on the District website. Agendas posted at all Bennington Public School buildings three days prior to the meeting date.

 

Attendance Taken at 5:49 PM. Jeremy Dick: Present, Tim Dreessen: Present, Joe Pick: Present, Kristi Ryan: Present, Steve Shannon: Present, Allyson Slobotski: Absent.

 

I.       Call Meeting to Order- Board Vice President Tim Dreessen called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act, which is available on the south end of the room.

 

II.     Public Forum- No members of the Public were present to speak.

 

III.   Consent Agenda (Note: Items on the consent agenda are considered routine and will be enacted under one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items at the meeting unless a Board Member requests an item removed from the agenda for separate action.)

 

Approval of Agenda, Approval of Minutes of the Monday, February 10, 2025 - Regular Meeting Presentation of March Bills for Approval and Payment, Personnel: Resignation(s) and Hiring of Personnel.

March 2025 Personnel Notes Certified Staff Hire: Lily Engeman, Hannah Beck, Classified Staff Hire: None. Certified Staff Resignations: Taylor Wakefield, Emily Rosenbohm, Logan Karr, Ben Coatney, Sierra Higgins. Classified Staff Resignations: Torrey Bergstrom, Darian Dunn, Holly Ward.

 

IV.    Items Removed From the Consent Agenda for Separate Action- No items were removed from the Consent Agenda.

 

V.      Reports- Administrative Reports: Elementary - Katie Woodrich, Middle School - Renee Rucker, High School - Greg Lamberty, Student Services – Kathryn Sindelar, CIA - Jimmy Feeney, Operations - Matt Blomenkamp, Superintendent - Aaron Plas. VII.A.  Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on District Purchases- The Building and Finance Committee recommended the following be approved for purchase: One hundred fifty high school band uniforms, $98,930. High school football uniforms, $34,340.

VII.B.  Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Technology Purchases- Each year, the district continues to invest in the technology necessary to operate the school in the current digital age. The hardware budget for this fiscal year was set at $483,000. The proposed upfront expenditures total $312,095. After factoring in an e-rate reimbursement of $16,268, the district’s net out-of-pocket cost is $295,827. This places the technology hardware budget $187,173 under budget, ensuring financial efficiency while meeting our technology needs.

VII.C.  Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Contract for Communications Platform- Bennington Public Schools has utilized a host of vendors for communication services throughout the last several years. In order to consolidate these services, the agreement with ParentSquare was recommended for approval by the Building/Finance Committee.

VII.D.  Discuss, Consider, and Take Action on Certified Staff Appraisal Document- The Bennington Staff Appraisal System was last revised in 2018. Since that time, the Nebraska Department of Education began the initiative to ensure that all students have access to effective educators. The Appraisal Development Committee recommends adopting the 2025 Bennington Appraisal Framework, which has been submitted and approved by NDE.
