The Ralston City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the 2nd reading of Ordinance No. 1287, an ordinance amending Chapter 9, Article 11 of the Ralston Municipal Code to adopt the 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. Ralston City Council Regular Meeting
Tuesday, June 15, 2021
The complete minutes are on file in the office of the City Clerk and are available for public inspection during regular business hours or on the City’s website at www.cityofralston.com.
The Ralston City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 5:30 PM at Ralston City Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll was called with the following present: Council President Krause and Council members Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Sanchez (via ZOOM) and Preis. Mayor Groesser was absent. The agenda was available at City Hall for public inspection and posted prior to the meeting. The legal notice for the meeting was published in the Omaha Daily Record. Claims listed are approved and part of these minutes.
Deacon Lonnie Dinneen, St. Gerald Catholic Church, gave the invocation. Council President Krause welcomed the press and guests. Krause said the meeting is subject to the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. A copy of the Act is posted at the rear of the Council Chambers and is available to view on the City’s website at www.cityofralston.com.
Reviewed the following items under the consent agenda. (a) Minutes from the June 1, 2021 regular city council meeting; (2) Claims; (3) Monthly Financial Statements from May 2021; and (4) Department Head and/or Commission Reports. Moved and seconded to approve the Consent Agenda with the additional claims. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Bohling reported in financial statements for May 2021 the City received the third allotment of 779 turnback of $783,000. Bohling reported on the budget process and he is compiling the draft this week and will send out to departments. Krajewski reported on arena events. Hairball and Baby Shark were held last week and were successful; two new shows – Cody Johnson and LOL Surprise; still holding dates for two comedy shows, one additional family show and eight concerts; upcoming events for this week – Golden Gloves and the Omaha Beef on Saturday. Russell reported there have been three SDL’s issued as of June 11, 2021. Hoppe reported on the progress of the Granary and Granary Green project.
Brousek introduced Ordinance No. 1285. Russell read Ordinance No. 1285 by title only: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF A CERTAIN DESCRIBED REAL ESTATE, SAME BEING LOT 1, SERUM INDUSTRIAL PARK REPLAT 1, AN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF RALSTON, AS SURVEYED, PLATTED AND RECORDED IN DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEBRASKA; DIRECTING THE CONVEYANCE OF SUCH REAL ESTATE, AND THE MANNER AND TERMS THEREOF, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND AUTHORIZING THE ORDINANCE BE PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM. Moved and seconded to approve Ordinance No. 1285 on second reading. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried. Moved and seconded to waive third reading of Ordinance No. 1285. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Kavanaugh introduced Ordinance No. 1284. Russell read Ordinance No. 1284 by title only: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, ARTICLE VI SECTION 9-601, OF THE RALSTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE; TO REPEAL ALL PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND TO AUTHORIZE THAT SAID ORDINANCE BE PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM. Moved and seconded to approve Ordinance No. 1284 on third reading. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Moved and seconded to approve the amendment to the Ralston Arena Management Agreement between City of Ralston and Global Spectrum, LP d/b/a Spectra Venue Management. Aye: Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: Brousek. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Moved and seconded to accept the bid for the 2021 Ralston street patching project from Spencer Management. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Public comment: There was no public comment.
Council comment: Brousek thanked the departments and City offices for a job well done. Kavanaugh thanked the Public Works crew for all the hard work they are putting in and hopes they stay safe and well-hydrated.
The meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
