Bellevue – Offutt Air Force Base south of Omaha has shut down an off-base child care center after a child care provider there tested position for COVID-19.
The infected person had been in contact with staff and children at the child development center before self-quarantining. Offutt said the center will be professionally sanitized before reopening.

Lincoln – Doctors, nurses and administrators at a Nebraska hospital cheered as a 91-year-old woman was wheeled out of a unit housing COVID-19 patients.
The Lincoln Journal Star reported that Imogene Hostetler said that she felt “great” after she left the CHI St. Elizabeth last Thursday.

Lincoln – A Nebraska state lawmaker announced that his father has died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Sen. Tony Vargas, of Omaha, said his father, 72-year-old Antonio Vargas, had spent 31 days on a ventilator in a New York hospital. The elder Vargas died early Wednesday morning, the senator said.
