The Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce presented its 2020 awards earlier this month via a ceremony video shared on social media.

The announcement premiered on the chamber’s Facebook, facebook.com/SarpyChamber, and included the announcement of the chamber’s 2020 New or Emergeing Business of the Year and its 2020 Nonprofit of the Year.

ROC Business Technologies was recognized as an emerging business, and Midlands Community Foundation won nonprofit honors.

ROC has doubled its business since 2017, and it was positively affected by the pandemic.

“We want to thank the chamber for everything they’ve done,” owner Ryan Ousey said.

MCF established a coronavirus response fund, and it distributed $130,000 to 25 recipients. Tonee Gay, executive director of the MCF, said the partnership with the chamber has been beneficial.

“We’re so honored and humbled to be a part of your organization,” Gay told chamber members.

Other nominees for the chamber’s new or emerging business award were Code Ninjas, Electric Express, TreeRush Adventures and Vision Specialists of Papillion.

Other nominees for the nonprofit award were the Bellevue Housing Authority, CHI Health Midlands, Rejuvenating Women and the Sarpy County CASA Program.

Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis was named Elected Official of the Year. He has been in law enforcement for the past 45 years.

“When you’re in the fastest growing county in the Midwest, it’s things like (the Sarpy County Chamber) that help you keep up with it,” Davis said.

The Filter Shop, represented by Ryan Dahlgaard, was the chamber’s Business of the Year for the 1-24 employee category. For the 25-plus category, the chamber recognized The Weitz Company, represented by Brian Mahlendorf.

The Shadow Lake Hy-Vee and its Dan Fuller won Business Leader of the Year.

The Excellence Award was presented to Matt Sexton with Facebook Papillion Data Center and Jeff Hadden with Patriarch Distillers.
