Organizers of Omaha’s annual Commercial Real Estate Summit will conduct a 45-minute virtual panel exploring how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted commercial real estate professionals.

The free panel discussion will be held Wednesday at noon using Zoom. Six industry experts will also share their thoughts about what can be expected in the coming months.

“With all that is going on in the world and the dramatic economic impact of the virus, the CRE Summit wanted to bring together our real estate leaders to discuss what we’re seeing on the front lines of this pandemic and how it relates to commercial real estate,” said Alex Epstein, co-chairman of the CRE Summit, which was recently rescheduled to Aug. 14.

The virtual panelists are:

• Epstein, the summit’s co-chair and executive vice president of OMNE Partners, who will give a forecast of industrial demand and what commercial real estate brokers are seeing across all sectors.

• Brad Hammitt, head of commercial mortgage and real estate investments at Mutual of Omaha, who will discuss what institutional lenders are doing with their borrowers at this time.

 • Jay R. Lerner, president of The Lerner Company, who will talk about what retail landlords are doing to accommodate struggling or closed retail tenants.

• John Lund, founder and CEO of The Lund Company, who will consider what office landlords are doing to accommodate struggling or closed office tenants.

• Sean Miglini, senior commercial lender at Veridian Credit Union, who will review how local banks are responding to their borrowers reduced cash flow and possible difficulty in making loan payments.

• Jay Olshonsky, president and CEO of NAI Global, who will give a national overview of the impacts that commercial real estate is facing due to COVID-19.

• Jerry Slusky, an attorney at Smith Slusky Law and president of SB Communities, who will talk about how multi-family landlords are working with their residents and lenders to assist them through this difficult time.

“The impact of this virus on property owners, their tenants and lenders will be the core of this conversation,” said Slusky, the CRE Summit’s founder and chair.

An invitation link to the Zoom meeting can be found on the CRE Summit’s Facebook and Linkedin social media channels. It will also be emailed to all current and past CRE Summit attendees.
