One Big Bad Beautiful One Size Fits All Budget Bill

I asked Don Bacon if he was proud of his vote for the Big Bad Beautiful One Size Fits All Budget Bill the House passed last week.

He said he was proud of the $2,700 he saved me in taxes and the money it sent to the military. He then went on to say that no bill is perfect and acknowledged that even with all the cuts, it was still going to add trillions to our nation’s debt. He defended this increase by going to the old chestnut of blaming Biden for how much he spent.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that Republicans seem to only be concerned with deficits when a Democrat occupies the Oval Office. When Republicans have the keys to the kingdom, tax breaks are more important than balanced budgets and debt reduction.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like paying taxes any more than the next guy. I don’t like going to the dentist either, but I know if I ignore my teeth, bad things happen. Eventually, my teeth will rot and fall out. If I take care of my teeth today, it will prevent a lot of pain.

By being dentally proactive, I can prevent bigger problems down the road.

I think you can see where I’m going with this.

I might feel better about this super great big, wonderful bill if President Trump were really serious about cutting spending. The optics for what he’s doing look bad. Why should some people go without health care while the president spends 45 million dollars on a parade and 3 million every weekend to play golf at Mar-a-Lago? If government workers can lose their jobs, the President can lose a parade and stay home more.

While so much attention has been placed on Medicaid cuts and deficits, there’s a lot more in this bill orchestrated by the stable genius. Did you know there is a provision in the bill that would make it impossible for judges to punish him or his administration if they ignored court orders?

Between this and the Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, it would be almost impossible to hold this or any future president accountable for their actions.

Congressman Bacon began his press conference last week by honoring the young Jewish couple that was gunned down in D.C. The Big Bad Colossal Bill that he voted for gets rid of a tax on gun silencers. This is a huuuuuge benefit for future murderers.

Congressman Bacon told reporters that although this bill passed the House by only one vote, it would have passed by three votes except two congressmen were asleep and missed the roll call.

Yes, the hearings for the most important bill Congress will pass this session went long into the morning, where congressmen were too tired to concentrate or even make it to the floor to vote.

When I asked Congressman Bacon why the hearing had to be done in the middle of the night instead of by the light of day, he said that they were in a hurry to get home for the Memorial Day holiday. I guess they felt it was better to get it done fast than to get it done right.

This legislation will affect millions of people for years to come. Legislation that gives the executive office more power to ignore the laws. This was 1100 pages to increase our debt, help the rich, and hurt the working poor.

We just observed Memorial Day. A day where we honor the brave soldiers who died in service to our country. Did they give their lives so America could be a country that burdens generations with insurmountable debt? A country where a president can ignore the courts at will? Did they die so the Commander in Chief could sell access to the White House with some meme scheme? Did they die on the soil of European allies so we can now threaten to punish them with burdensome tariffs?

Reports are that this bill will be significantly modified in the Senate. Will they be able to make it better, or will they bow to the whims of the president? Will they get rid of the tax breaks to help balance the budget? Can they fix Medicaid and Medicare without hurting too many people? Return power to the courts? All I can do is hope and pray they do a better job to make this a bill that most Americans can be proud of.
