Omaha Startup Selected for ‘Food Foundry’
An Omaha startup was selected for the top-ranked private business incubator in the world’s second “Food Foundry” cohort.
Retail Aware, a sensor-solution driving retail data, was among seven businesses selected by Relish Works in partnership with the Gordon Food Service and 1871.
Retail Aware is a fellow of The Startup Collaborative in Omaha.
“We are thrilled to expand our network in Chicago and grateful to the Relish Works team for the opportunity to join The Food Foundry’s 2020 cohort,” Retail Aware CEO Keith Fix said in a statement that was distributed by the Greater Omaha Chamber.
Gordon Foods Service, the largest family-owned distributor, plans to work with Retail Aware through the business incubator.
“In addition to programming, investment, and access to a high-caliber network of investors and mentors, we look forward to collaborating with and learning from the other companies in the cohort,” Fix said.
The other selected startups are Sociavore, a website builder and e-commerce platform for restaurants; Bikky, an omni-channel customer relationship management platform for restaurants; Science Retail, subscription-based IT support for independent hospitality businesses; Tablee, enterprise software that supercharges hospitality staff with real-time information to boost productivity; Augie, a marketplace for short-dated products; and OjaExpress, a grocery delivery marketplace.
“Innovation is essential to our industry’s long-term success,” said Rich Wolowski, president and CEO of Gordon Food Service. “What exists today may not look the same in the future. That’s why it’s important for us as an organization to take risks, try new things, and position ourselves to lead in shaping our tomorrow.”
The 16-week immersive experience will culminate with a demo day on May 14, 2020.
