Omaha Police Department Holds Promotion Ceremony
The Omaha Police Department promoted 16 police officers and three civilians in the department at a ceremony last week.
Anna Colón was promoted to deputy chief. She is the second Black female officer to hold that rank in the department.
Colón was honored last year with the City of Omaha’s Martin Luther King Jr. Award. Colón had managed the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Special Investigations Section and the Officer Involved Investigations Team after spending 24 years in the U.S. Air Force. In addition, Colón is a chaplain with the Black Police Officers Association and a coach with the Police Athletics for Community Engagement organization.
Promoted to captain were Keith Williamson, Tracy Scherer and Sherie Thomas.
Promoted to lieutenant were Sean Sheridan, Allen Straubl, Neal Bonacci and Marlene Rieder.
Promotion to sergeant were Andrew Kinsey, Zachary Petrick, Brian Dembinski, Michael Wright, Adam Turnbull, John K. Villwok, Benjamin W. Weidner and Scott D. Buresh.
Also promoted were William Henningsen to forensic manager, Kelly McDonald to administrative information manager and Sterling Fox to office supervisor.
