Members of the Omaha Barristers’ Club took the diamond at Leavenworth Park, and later sojourned down to Barrett’s Barleycorn, last Thursday.

Douglas County attorneys and public defenders split a doubleheader, with the Barristers’ squad winning 14-10 in the first game and the County Attorney’s team winning 13-12 in the second game.

“It is hard to single out one person as MVP as everyone had their moments,” said Omaha Barristers’ Club President Doug Amen.

The defense attorneys won the first game thanks in part to a miraculous catch in the outfield by Omaha lawyer Joe Bradley, who snagged a deep fly ball that caromed off the branches of a large tree in left field at Leavenworth Park only to drop directly into Bradley’s glove.

The County Attorney’s Office, led by Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine’s strong pitching, took the second game with an unlikely yet furious comeback in the bottom of the fifth.

Jason Troia of Omaha firm Dornan, Troia, Howard, Breitkreutz, Conway, & Dahlquist was the winning pitcher for the defense attorneys in the first game.

The Barristers’ Club annual Christmas Show is scheduled for Dec. 9 at the Paxton. Additional information on purchasing tickets to the show will be announced at a later date.
