More than 300 nonprofit executives, employees, board members and volunteers across Nebraska and southwest Iowa plan to attend the 15th annual Nonprofit Summit of the Midlands, a virtual conference that will be hosted by the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands and D.A. Davidson on Nov. 3.
The theme for this year’s summit is “Forward Together,” and the event will connect nonprofits with all missions and sizes with ideas, best practices, and educational resources in the nonprofit sector.
“The upheaval of 2020 and 2021 has illustrated how important the nonprofit community is in making our communities stronger, healthier, and livable for all, but it has also made it clear that we can’t do it alone,” NAM CEO Anne Hindery said in news release. “The Summit will feature breakout sessions and workshops on a variety of nonprofit topics that will help nonprofits continue to move forward together.”
This year’s Summit keynote speaker is Atyia Martin, CEO and founder of All Aces, Inc., an alternative to traditional diversity, equity and inclusion consulting firms. Martin’s personal mission is to unleash the invisible power that every person and organization must intentionally act to disrupt oppression. She has more than 20 years of experience applying the principles of racial equity and social justice during her career in resilience, emergency management, public health and intelligence.
Martin will offer an engaging session on what a resilient and equitable culture looks like. The summit also will recognize a leader or organization that has made an impact in the nonprofit communit with NAM’s Catalyst Award, which will be announced during the virtual conference. Nominations are due Sept. 24.
Registration for the summit is available at nonprofitam.org/events.
