New Warden Appointed at Youth Facility
Loretta Wells was recently appointed warden for the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility.
Wells begins her new duties on Monday, Dec. 23. Her appointment was announced on Dec. 9 by Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Chief of Operations Diane Sabatka-Rine.
Wells mostly recently was deputy warden at the Omaha Correctional Center. She started in 1996 at NDCS as a correctional officer.
Wells became a unit case worker and later transfer to the NCYF in 1996 to assist in opening the facility. She has experience in emergency preparedness and has a background in investigation and intelligence gathering.
“Wells brings a significant amount of experience to the position of warden,” Sabatka-Rine said in a news release. “She is someone who has constantly sought increased responsibility and management experience.”
Wells has a bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis on criminal justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
