New Chief Probation Officer Selected for 1st Judicial District
Ashley Griess has been named the new chief probation officer for the 1st Judicial District.
Griess will start service Sept. 1, according to a Nebraska Judicial Branch news release. She has served as the chief deputy since 2017 and has worked in the adult and juvenile justice systems.
The 1st Judicial District covers Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline and Thayer counties. Griess will manage a staff of more than 40 employees, including 25 probation officers in six offices throughout the district.
Griess is a strong supporter of problem-solving courts and has established working relationships with stakeholders for the 10 counties of the 1st Judicial District. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
