What are your connections to the community?
I’m a public health expert and community organizer born and raised in North Omaha. As someone who grew up here, I understand how important it is for leadership to address the challenges that everyday people are facing. I’ve worked on these issues with many local organizations over the years.
What experience do you bring to the office?
You deserve a partner in City Hall that works as hard as you do. I have a master’s degree in Public Health from UNMC, and I have dedicated my career to criminal justice reform and policy advocacy. I know what it’s like to fight against many of the barriers that Omahans are facing every day.
What would one of your top priorities be?
We need to build an Omaha that works for everyone, regardless of zip code. I’ll work to ensure equitable access to opportunity, good-paying jobs, affordable housing, and public services across the city. When Omaha has an inclusive economy that benefits all, I’ll know that I have accomplished my goal.
What motivated you to run for public office?
I'm running for Mayor of Omaha because I know that everyday people have the solutions to the challenges our city is facing. Too many Omahans are struggling to make ends meet and our city leadership has failed to address the most basic issues felt by our families, friends and neighbors.
What’s the biggest issue that Omaha faces?
The three biggest challenges facing Omaha right now are COVID-19, public safety, and equitable access to resources. We have to lead proactively, address the underlying causes for contact between residents and the criminal justice system, and ensure that public resources are delivered equitably across the city.
Is there anything else you want to tell voters?
Omaha is a community of hard-working people who care about their families, neighborhoods, and our city’s survival. As your Mayor, I promise to work as hard as you do every single day to move Omaha forward. I’m running because I know I have the experience, approach, and perspective Omaha needs to thrive.
